People were posting a number of disparaging claims about the man and Morning Sentinel reporter Haley Hersey dug in to gain an understanding of what transpired. Skowhegan police were not immediately responsive, so it was difficult to separate allegations posted to social media from the facts of the matter.
Hersey contacted the business the man owned with others in his family and reached the man’s brother who confirmed some details. Police later in the week provided further information – that the man was charged with violation of privacy for snapping a lewd image of a young woman in a Skowhegan parking lot.
A lot of claims and allegations are tossed about on social platforms, many fantastical and others with merit. It takes diligence and patience to separate one from the other. The Morning Sentinel will continue to work in a methodical way to report with certitude the events of a case, particularly one involving a police investigation.
